PARASHÁ 01 BERESHIT

[Aliyah 1]

1 In the beginning, YHWH created the heavens (invisible and visible) and the earth.  (Dt: 10:14). Bereshit bará YHWH et hashamáyim ve'et ha'árets.

2 And the earth became formless and void, and there was darkness over the face of the watery deep, and the Ruaj of YHWH moved over the surface of the waters. Veha'árets hayetáh tohú vavohú, vejóshej al-peney tehom, verúaj YHWH merachéfet al-peney hamáyim.

3 Then YHWH said, Let there be light; and there was light. Vayomer YHWH: yehí-or, vayehí-or.

4 And YHWH saw that the light was good, and YHWH divided the light from the darkness. Vayar YHWH et-ha'or ki-tov; vayavdel YHWH beyn ha'or uveyn hajóshej.

5 And YHWH called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So there was evening, and there was morning, day one.Vayikrá YHWH la-or yom, velajóshej kará lailah. Vayehí-érev vayehí-vóker: yom ejad.

6 And YHWH said, Let the firmament be in the midst of the water; let it divide the water from the water. Vayomer YHWH: yehí rakía betoj hamáyim vyhi mavdil beyn máyim lamáyim.

7 And YHWH made the expanse to separate the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. Vaya'as YHWH et-harakía, vayavdel beyn hamáyim Aser mitájat larakía uvein hamáyim Aser me'al larakía; vayehí-jén.

8 And YHWH called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. Vayikrá YHWH la-rakía, shamáyim. Vayehí-érev vayehí-vóker: yom shení.

9 And YHWH said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one pile, and let the dry land be seen; and it was so. Vayomer YHWH: yikavú hamayím mitájat hashamáyim el-makóm ejad, vetera'éh hayabasháh; vayehí jén.

10 And YHWH called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas; and YHWH saw that it was good. Vayikrá YHWH layabasháh, érets ulemikvéh hamáyim kará yamím; vayar YHWH ki-tov.

11And YHWH said, Let the land bring forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit according to their kinds, whose seed is in themselves, on the land; and it was so. Vayomer YHWH: tadshé ha'árets, deshe ésev mazria zera; ets pri oseh perí leminó, Aser zar'o-vó al-ha'árets; vayehí jén.

12 And the earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed according to their kinds, and trees yielding fruit with seed in themselves, according to their kinds. And the YHWH saw that it was good. Vatotsé ha'árets deshe, esev mazria zera leminehu, ve'ets oseh prí Aser zar'o-vó; leminehu vayar YHWH.

13 And there was evening and there was morning: the third day. Vayehí-érev vayehí-vóker: yom shlishí.

14 [Aliyah 2] And YHWH said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, for appointed times, and days, and years. Vayomer YHWH: yehí meorot birekía hashamáyim lehavdil bein hayom uvein halailah, vehayú leotot, ulemoadím, uleyamím veshaním.

15 And let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth; and it was so. Vehayú li-meorot birekía hashamáyim leha'ir al-ha'árets; vayehí-jén.

16 And YHWH made Aleph-Tav two great lights: the great light to rule the day, and the little light to rule the night; and he made the stars. Vaya'as YHWH et-sheney hameorot hagdolim: et-hamaor hagadol le-memshélet hayom, ve'et hamaor hakatón le memshélet halailah; ve'et hakojavím.

17 And YHWH set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth. Vayiten otra YHWH birekía hashamáyim, leha'ir al ha'árets.

18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and YHWH saw that it was good. Velimshol bayom uvalailah, ulehavdil bein ha'or uvein hajoshej; vayar YHWH ki-tov.

19 And there was evening and there was morning: day four. Vayehí-érev vayehí-vóker: yom revi'í.

20 Then YHWH said, "Let the waters swarm with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth under the expanse of the heavens." And it was so. Vayomer YHWH yishretsú hamáyim shérets néfesh jayáh ve'of yeofef al-ha'árets al-peney rekía hashamáyim.

21 And YHWH created great water creatures and every living creature that creeps, which the waters brought forth in abundance, according to their kinds, and every winged fowl according to its kind. And YHWH saw that it was good. Vayivrá YHWH et-hataninim hagedolim ve'et kol néfesh hajayáh haroméset, Aser shartsú hamáyim le-minéhem, ve'et kol-of kanaf leminehú; vayar YHWH ki-tov.

22 And YHWH blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas. And let the birds multiply on the earth. Let YHWH be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the seas. Veha'of yirev ba'árets.

23 And there was evening and there was morning: the fifth day. Vayehí-érev vayehí-vóker: yom jamishí.

24 [Aliyah 3] And YHWH said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: four-footed creatures and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds; and it was so. Vayomer YHWH totsé ha'árets néfesh jayáh, lemináh behemáh varemes vejayetó-érets lemináh; vayehí-jén.

25 And YHWH made every beast of the ground according to its kind, and every four-footed thing according to its kind, and every creeping thing of the earth according to its kind; and YHWH saw that it was good. Vaya'ás YHWH et jayat ha'árets lemináh, ve'et habehemáh lemináh, ve'et kol-remes ha'adamáh leminehú; vayar YHWH ki-tov.

26 And YHWH said, Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the face of the ground. Vayomer YHWH: na'aséh Adam betsalmenu, kidemutenu veyirdú bidegat hayam, uve'of hashamáyim, uvabehemáh, uvejol-ha'árets, uvejol-haremes, haromés al-ha'árets.

27 And YHWH Alef-Tav created man in his own image; in the image of YHWH he created him; male and female he created them. Vayivrá YHWH et-ha'adam betsalmó, betselem YHWH bará otó, zajar unekeváh bará otam.

28 And YHWH blessed them, and YHWH said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every creeping thing that moveth upon the earth. Vayevarej otam YHWH; vayomer lahem YHWH: perú urevú umil'ú et-ha'árets, vejiveshuha, uredú bidegat hayam, uve'of hashamáyim, uvejol-jayah haromeset al-ha'arets.

29 And YHWH said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth; and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, it shall be good for you for food. Vayomer YHWH: hinéh natati lajem et-jol-ésev zorea zera, Aser al-peney kol-ha'árets, ve'et-kol-ha'ets asher-bo feri-ets zorea zara, lajem yihyéh le-ojláh.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to every living thing that moves upon the earth, every herb of vegetation was given for food; and it was so. Ulejol-jayat ha'árets ulejol-of hashamáyim, ulejol romes al ha'árets asher-bo néfesh jayáh, et-kol-yérek ésev le'ojláh; vayehí-jén.

31 And YHWH saw everything that he made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Vayar YHWH et-kol-asher asáh vehinéh-tov me'od vayehí érev vayehí-vóker: yom hashishí.
